Ibaaku defines himself as a sonic world’s builder, he’s exploring the potentials of audio through collaborative and interdisciplinary work touching fields such as fashion and performance arts.
Starting at the beginning of the 2000s on the Senegalese hip-hop
scene as a rapper, producer and singer, he carried out several musical projects and joined several collectives of the Dakar alternative scene.
Since 2016 he’s a rising figure in electronic and experimental music
on the African continent and since 2020 he is also a founding member of Kenu : Lab’Oratoire des Imaginaires, an art space that explores the imaginaries, social practices and traditional knowledge of Ouakam society.
Also recently co-founder with Alibeta of the 1st music label dedicated to contemporary and electronic music from Senegal : Miziku Tey Records.
